ARTIST STUDIO RENTAL

Hangar has 15 studios available for artists who need to work on specific projects or commissions, artists who are starting out and need a studio for up to two years, or artists who move to Barcelona on a temporary basis.

To access the Studios:
long stays (up to two years) are allocated through a call for applications organised by Hangar two or three times a year (for the current call for applications, see the Hangar website). Portfolios are selected by the Hangar Programs Commission (made up of five contemporary art experts chosen by the AAVC; the professional association of visual artists of Catalonia, through their General Assembly), according to the studios available. short stays (up to three months), applications are accepted at any time, depending on studio availability.

Number of spaces: 15.
Dimensions of each space: Between 30 and 60 m2.
Facilities: Work tables, power points, sink, showers, Internet connection, showers and heating.

Artists renting a studio on a long-stay basis can use the following Hangar services at no cost: Medialab, self video editing, set and multipurpose space.

Prices:
30 m2 studio: 128,52 € /month.
44 m2 studio: 186,00 €/month.
54 m2 studio: 227,09 €/month.
60 m2 studio: 252,00 €/month.

Discounts: 20% discount for members of the AAVC or the UAAV.

Duration of the service: minimum 1 month, maximum 2 years (6 months renewable for up to two years based on personal interviews with the Programs Commission).

Presentation guidelines and accepted formats:

*All documentation must be submitted as a pdf file, and sent this application form
• Curriculum vitae (up to A4 sheet).
• A maximum of 10 images.
• Works on video are to be submitted on DVD, no more than one disc per application. The duration of the video, or videos, must not exceed 5 minutes. The DVD must be clearly labelled with the name of the author and the duration of the video, with a script synopsis (of up to A4 sheet) attached. This material must be sent or delivered directly to Hangar or web URL.
• Artists who submit an animation or interactive piece on CD-ROM must specify whether it is Mac or PC.
• Artists who work on Internet-specific projects are to present a web directory.
• All submissions, in any format, must by accompanied by the corresponding full details: the artist’s name and the production year, technique and dimensions of the works presented.

Once the process has been finalised, artists who want their DVDs returned can pick them up personally from Hangar between 9am and 2pm, Monday to Friday, or arrange a courier service at their own expense.
