CUISINE


Traditional Mediterranean aromas and flavours are the essence of Costa Daurada's cuisine. The region's wealth of fresh, quality seafood and produce has given rise to an endless array of delectable dishes, as well as excellent wines from several select wine regions.

Discerning palates will want to sample the roasted calçots (a local variety of spring onion) in March, the wild boar stew in winter and the rossejat de fideus (a noodle paella) any time of year, as well as the region's world-famous xató (a cod salad served over curly endive) and Reus's stellar take on blancmange. Indeed, the region offers a genuine cornucopia of vegetables and meat, fish and fruit, nuts and world-class wines

"Les Cuines del Vendrell" New Oil and Old Vinegar Campaign
Member restaurants of the "Les Cuines del Vendrell" group welcome the year's batch of DOP Siurana arbequina olive oil, using it in a variety of dishes. The excellent extra virgin olive oil is provided by the oil producer and "Les Cuines del Vendrell" member Pijoan Escofet. Dishes also use the highly acclaimed, aged vinegar Fòrvm made by the Avgvstvs-Fòrvm winery.

Siurana Oil Fair. New Oil Festival
The most important cooperatives of the DOP Siurana jointly present the new oil of the season. Different entertainment will take place during the two-day fair, among which the most popular is the “New Oil Festival”, comprising a popular breakfast tasting session of the new oil.
