Vall Fosca Presentation


Vall Fosca (Fosca Valley), situated to the north of the Pallars Jussà region, is an enthralling setting where water, mountain, extremely varied vegetation and different animal species all live together in harmony.

Here, due to the altitude of the mountains in the highest part of the valley, the sun sets very early i.e. at 6 o'clock in the evening during the periods of the year in which the days tend to be longer. This uniqueness earned the valley its name, Vall Fosca, which literally means dark valley.

Capdella, at an elevation of 1,420 metres, is the highest and final village of a group of rural centres that make up Vall Fosca: la Pobleta de Bellveí, Estavill, Envall, Antist, Castell-estaó, Beranui, la Plana de Mont-rós, Astell, Oveix, Aguiró, Paüls, Pobellà, Mont-rós, Molinos, la Torre de Capdella, Aiguabella, Espui and la Central de Capdella.

The River Flamisell is the valley’s point of convergence. If you follow the river's journey, you will enjoy an ever-changing landscape that will lead you to the highest part of Vall Fosca where you can catch the cable car. This will take you up 500 metres to the base of the peaks at a height of about 3,000 metres where you can visit more than 30 lakes.
