Description |
The Museu de la Pell d’Igualada i Comarcal de l’Anoia (Igualada Leather Museum and L’Anoia County Museum) is made up of the Museu de la Pell (Leather Museum), the 18th century Adoberia de Cal Granotes (Cal Granotes tannery), the “L’home i l’aigua” (Humans and water) exhibition and the Gasogene de Can Pasqual (Cal Pasqual Gas Generator). The exhibition route consists of three sections: leather’s place in history and its cultural significance in Mediterranean civilisation; the world of leather showing what the material can be used for; and from the pit to the drum, in which with the help of machinery a description is given of technical developments in leather production up to its final mechanisation. Cal Boyer is an old cotton factory dating from the end of the 19th century and is the main centre for the Museo de la Pell d’Igualada i Comarcal de l’Anoia. Also known as the “Vapor Nou” (new steam-powered mill), it was refurbished in 1986. |
