Abertis has a presence in Canada through its toll technology subsidiary, Emovis. In 2014, Emovis was awarded the contract for the Blue Water Bridge Canada (BWBC) toll system. The bridge covers the border between Ontario, Canada, and Michigan, United States, registering 10,000 transactions a day.
In addition, Emovis holds the concessions for managing electronic toll collection on other two bridges in Vancouver, British Columbia: the Golden Ears Bridge and the Port Mann Bridge, the largest North American toll bridge, which handles more than 110,000 vehicles per day.
The advanced barrier-less free-flow toll system installed on both bridges allowed for the reduction of traffic congestion in the region and cut the travel times of customers.
