We, allied anti-imperialist organizations and individuals across the world condemn the rightwing coup against indigenous president Evo Morales that forced him and other members of the Bolivian government to resign. This coup is being undertaken to inflict the worst kind of violence upon class-conscious, indigenous revolutionaries who, under the banner of indigenous socialism, have forged the path toward self-determination and peace.

To this day, no evidence exists to demonstrate that the October 20 elections which Evo Morales won were fraudulent. As early as one day later - on October 21 - the Organization of American States (OAS) released a public statement in an attempt to discredit the election results without any supporting evidence. For all its claims of multilateralism and diversity, the OAS receives a disproportionate amount of its funding from Washington DC.

Dear friends, companions, sisters and brothers from all corners of the Spanish State who have taken to the streets over recent days to let the Regime know that if they hit one of us, they hit us all. 

Thank you with all our heart. Thank you for conveying the warmth of this community that exists against all odds.

Thank you for being there with your bodies, which is all that those of us who dream of the worlds we hold in our hearts have.

Thank you for filling the streets with your complicit smiles.

Thank you for spreading the message that civil disobedience and self-determination are a battering ram against the Regime set up in 1978 based on indivisible unity and which will stop at nothing.

This is a political trial against the right of self-determination of the Catalan people. All the evidences - political, judicial and historical - allows us to conclude that this trial will end up with sentences that will entail jail time and disqualifications from public office for the people involved.

At the very first moment, the police officers proceeded to seize material for campaigning in the forthcoming referendum that some members of the CUP were carrying into a vehicle in front of the headquarters. No judicial or official document was showed to the CUP members present at the time. ​This omission contravenes the regular practices and the most basic provisions of any procedure by a police force. The lack of any document detailing the seized materials is a clear violation in itself. Moreover, this situation prevents the CUP from having any reference of the procedure file in which the operation is being developed. Currently, we do not have any information whether it is an administrative operation under the law of Citizen Security or one under the instructions of a judge and thus under a criminal investigation. 

Following this schema, the denial of the right to self-determination by the powers of the Spanish State—that is, the fact of prohibiting the Catalan people from being what they collectively decide to be—makes the road of disobedience necessary to finally realise and exercise a right claimed by a significant number of people. It was this desire to decide on the part of the Catalans combined with the blocking of the Spanish State that gave rise to the disobedient referendum of October 1, 2017.
