You do not need an agenda or itinerary to visit Japan. The very attractive exchange rate makes everything affordable. Fresh and delicious Sushi is thus very affordable. The safe and clean envirnment that is unique to the Japanese culture alone is worth making a trip to discover Japan. The railway museum and Disneyland are my favorite. The Ghibli Park/Museum has become a global attraction and tickets have to be reserved months in advance online. River cruises to Odaiba or from Nihonbashi are highly recommended for those who enjoy relaxing sailing and are interested to photograph Tokyo from many different points of view. Ueno Park including the popular Panda and museums are always a must visit half or all day event. A surprising night spot is on the 60th floor of the Sunshine City in Ikebukuro. The 360 degree view of the Tokyo city at night is breathtaking for only 700 yen. Other historical tourist spots in Shibuya and Harajuku are changing fast due to redevelopment and have lost their unique identity and characteristics. Consequently, visit Tokyo ASAP before the constant redevelopment will turn Tokyo into another concrete jungle populated with all the bland LVMH stores targeting people with low self esteem and confidence who plastered themselves with trashy designer labels.
Stayed at The Gracery Hotel which was a big mistake. Littered walkway in to Hotel, Check in put our family in two rooms three floors apart. Cramped room , paper cups, cracked basin, and this was apparently a Superior room? Shinjuku not a good area for young family, maybe teenagers. Exciting area though with plenty of restaurants and night life. Bay Area , seaside and Diver city good Gonpachi restaurant and Dawn Avatar robot cafe I would recommend. Kabukicho Tower good for live music and food Imperial palace area around The Mandarin Hotel lovely too
You could spend several lifetimes in Tokyo and never even scratch the surface of what there is to see and do. Every prefecture has it's own unique charm, and it feels like every alleyway has the next best meal. Most definitely the cleanest city I've seen, and incredibly convenient hopping from train to train in order to get everywhere you need to go. Absolute must sees are Tokyo Tower and the Skytree views, a show at the Kabukiza theater, and the many shrines and temples dotting the city.
I thoroughly enjoyed the convenience of the train system in Tokyo, which effortlessly transported me to numerous iconic destinations like Tokyo Skytree, Tokyo Tower, Odaiba, and more, all within a matter of days. Moreover, I had the opportunity to embark on exhilarating high-speed train journeys to neighboring towns such as Kawaguchiko, Nikko, Yokohama, and Karuizawa, embarking on day trips to each location. The overall experience was nothing short of awe-inspiring!
However many days you are planning to stay in Tokyo, DOUBLE IT! Seriously too many places to go and things to see in one trip and will need to return many times in the future. One of the greatest cities on earth!
Second time in Tokyo and I love Tokyo! So much to do and see, two weeks is not enough! A beautiful city, with friendly people, architecture, delicious food, and a variety of entertainment. I felt safe anywhere we went in Japan even in Tokyo. There was no language barrier. Everything is in Japanese and English. Go to a chain restaurant or store and there is someone that speaks English or has a handheld translator. There is usually a printed menu in other languages as well. Train announcements and onboard information are also in Japanese and English. With the strong dollar (May 2023) we bought and ate many things without thinking of the cost. It's a great time to go to Japan, and Tokyo is a great place to start. You don't have to stay in central Tokyo, you can stay anywhere there is a train station. Train service is frequent and reliable, until about 1210am when it shuts down. Buses are also punctual, just signal for the station you want to get off at or the driver may not stop, to keep on schedule. Get a Suica or other IC "debit" card. It's used everywhere, for everything including busses and subways, and even many vending machines. You can refill them (cash only) at any train station. I recommend getting a mobile hotspot at the airport if you have a group like a family or a SIM card if traveling alone. Its cheap and you don't have to worry about any data limitations or fees. Plan on buying a bag or pack light because you will fill up on souvenirs and all kinds of stuff to bring home!
Reception staffs were so helpful and polite, hosts at breakfast time are very amazing, friendly and polite. The hotel was clean, my room was getting cleaned everyday by great housekeeping staffs. The location was great too, basically in middle of Tokyo so you can walk to Shibuya, Shinjuku and Roppongi in less than an hour. There are many restaurant and coffee shops near by, plus 7-11 is just cross the street. In conclusion, I enjoyed my stay at the hotel and had great breakfast menu everyday. Thank you :)
This was our first experience of Tokyo hotels, and the mind boggled at how such a tiny room could be so cleverly laid out. It has everything you need, and we only noticed the lack of space when we both tried to move around at the same time (spoiler: doesn't work). The price was excellent (for Tokyo) without feeling "budget" in quality. Asakusa doesn't have the buzz of Ueno or Shinjuku, but it has its own restaurant district and both Tokyo Skytree and Senso-ji are within an easy walk.
Best location for Tokyo marathon, the Start line is in front of the hotel, in the Shinjuku Central park. I'd appreciate the park very much, I can run a few miles before the marathon day, and as trees are very rare in Tokyo, this park gives the residents some nature, fresh air, and relax! Spot of early cherry blossoms made my trip perfect. The view from my room is fantastic! The bakery downstairs provides the most delicious bread, croissant, apple pie ...
The main lobby of The Okura is a knock-out! My husband and I stayed in the Heritage wing of the hotel in a gorgeous, well-appointed , completely comfortable room with amazing views. It was our Tokyo dream room ––distinctly "Japanese" and modern at the same time. It was one of the nicest hotel rooms we've ever stayed in. On top of this, the hotel staff went above and beyond to make our experience a good one. We cannot wait to return!
Nice new hotel right beside the JR Yamanote Line and Tozai Metro line, so very convenient for Shinjuku, Shibuya, etc, plus lots of restaurants, shops and stuff to do nearby. Room was bigger than others I've stayed in in Tokyo around this price point, TV was massive, and a great selection of free amenities such as bath salts, herbal teas, hydrating face masks, etc. I'd definitely stay here again.
We love the location and the size of the room. The size is significantly bigger than most rooms in Japan in that price range. The location is superb, 100m away from yamanote line which is very convenient when connecting to Shinkansen. The area around the hotel has many restaurants as well. and very accessible to Shibuya/Shinjuku/Tokyo station
Lovely, clean, well facilitated rooms. very small however it will be the same everywhere in Tokyo, for us it was perfect. The staff were very helpful and polite. Breakfast was good for the price you pay. Much cheaper than UK prices at hotels. Location is good, 15 minute walk max to Shinjuku station. 7 11 3 minutes walk.
What a surprise! After usually staying in APA hotels, this was a breath of fresh air. The room was comfortable, small which is typical for single travelers, but exactly what I needed in order to have a wonderful stay, close to airport, but still accessible to all of Tokyo! Loved it!
Tokyo
Large well appointed rooms with all the amenities required for a short stay. The hotel is well located for visiting Shinjuku shopping district and Shinjuku Park. The shared areas are getting worn but the Hotel is still a very comfortable, affordable option for visiting Tokyo.
Tokyo
The bed was extremely comfortable and private, and they provide all the amenities you might need, as expected from a capsule hotel. Light and charger next to the bed. The staff spoke good english and were helpful. It's close enough to Shinjuku station to walk from there.
room was pretty spacious for a Tokyo hotel. Pillow situation was a bit odd and they’d run out of other pillows on the first night so my husband had to sleep on his clothes bundled in his bag. The staff were very helpful and sorted suitable ones for the next nights.
Tokyo
The location is close to Sensoji and Asakusa Station. You can walk to Skytree in 15-20 minutes. You get nice view of Skytree from the window. Sleeping on the floor was comfortable enough. The price was below other Tokyo hotels. The staff is lovely.
Lots of places nearby to eat and drink Lovely location of the hotel Friendly staff Good breakfast- buffet options Sparkling clean Within 10 minutes waling from Shinjuku stattion
The hotel location was pretty central, near one of Shinjuku's Station exits. The capsule was clean and comfortable. There was a power outlet, a TV, and adjustable lighting.
Very close to tokyo station, Ueno Zoo, Shibuya, Gundam Base… and to other our places of destination. They provide mouth wash which is not offered from other hotels I’ve stayed.
Very good location. Clean and comfortable hotel/room. Spacious room when compared to most Tokyo hotels. Very good value for money.
the location is right opposite to Ueno Station. the space is quite more roomy than other Tokyo’s hotels from my experience.
Excellent location near Shibuya center as well as Yoyogi park. Great value too! I highly recommend this hotel!
